Continuing the countdown of my first inchie year...
February 27 -
We were in our hotel room in Stillwater, USA, and I was having my morning coffee and looking out the (third story) window at the view when I heard singing.
I looked down to see that the top of a bare tree just below us was crowded with birds.
I hadn't brought my camera bag up to the room.
The Prince was just sure the birds would be gone by the time he got back with it, but he asked me if I wanted him to fetch it anyway.
Guess what?
They waited for him.
When I looked at them through my telephoto lens, I realized I had no idea what kind of birds they were.
I always get excited about seeing a species of bird for the first time.
And these guys, who looked so dull from a distance, sure had a variety of color in their feathers.
See that one little spot of red and the bright yellow tips on their tailfeathers?
Look at all the shades of brown and gray!
And their undersides are pale yellow.
If I ever do find my bird book, I can mark off...
...the cedar waxwing.
Because now we've met.
