...what's coming up next.
When Able Baker Dana asked me for some help with a baking project she was doing for her son's Eagle Scout ceremony, of course I said yes.
When she told me she was going to cut some pound cake with an eagle-shaped cookie cutter and cover it with fondant, and that she needed some help 'painting' the fondant with food-color, of course I said I'd try.
Last week she decided to do a 'trial run' so we could practice before the big day, so I stopped by after work Thursday afternoon and we did just that.
This was the result of our experiment:
I've never painted with food-color.
In fact, I've never painted much at all (unless you count walls).
But it did at least look like an eagle, and it did help us make some 'design' decisions before she starts baking the sheet cakes and I have to paint four of these 'for real' next week.
It is funny to me how many of these kinds of things I get myself into.
Life is full of little adventures; I'll let you know how this one turns out.
I thought I would surely be drawing an eagle on the day's inchie, but (especially because I knew I'd be painting them again) it got ousted by a little something the Prince pulled on me that evening.
He pulled a knife on me.
A few weeks ago, when I was maniacally spring cleaning, I came across the little Swiss army knife one of my sweet male Shoots had given me years ago.
It had been ruined (I forget how), but I just hadn't been able to throw it out.
When I found it, I told the Prince how I loved that little knife and how sorry I was that I couldn't carry it anymore.
I guess you can figure out the rest of the story, but I still forget how much the Prince loves to give gifts to me.
The evening of the eagle-painting day, he handed me a little box.
And in the little box, was a little knife just like the one my Shoot had given me.
It is now attached to my key chain.
I'm sure you can guess which of the tools on this knife is my favorite.
And now when I open my little knife, or cut with my little scissors...
I'll be thinking of two men who love me.
