Here is an odd thing I like to do.
I like to take walks with the girl shoots at night and make 'crop circles' in the street.
We walk, each armed with two pieces of sidewalk chalk, and when the Spirit moves us to stop, we draw a group of circles in the street.
Different colors.
Different sizes.
All circles.
Sometimes we draw them right next to the driver's door of a car which is parked in the street.
Sometimes we draw them on the corner, under the street lamp.
Sometimes we draw them at the end of a driveway.
But we never draw them on private property.
When Miss Helping Hands got very antsy on the last Saturday night of spring break, we decided to go out and see if we could walk it off.
We took our chalk, drew circles, walked, and talked.
When she told me that she was 'ending an era' and that it was (most probably) the last spring break she would be spending at home...
Well.
That hurt.
Both of us.
So we drew lots of circles.
And when we got home, I broke a rule.
I drew a group of crop circles on private property.
Just outside the driver's door of Miss Helping Hands' car.
And she said...
"Thank you for the circles, Mom. I love you."
I love you, too, Miss Helping Hands.
