Since we are now an entire week into January, I figure I'd better just finish posting the last week of the December inchies.
December 26:
Miss Mary Mack, who is studying Spanish/English Translation at university, left us bright and early the day after Christmas to head to Mexico.
She spent a week there working with local churches, teaching vacation Bible school, and translating for the other team members.
She didn't want to come home.
It was the first mission trip she's taken since she's been immersed in Spanish study in college and, loving the Hispanic culture as she does, her joyful experiences in it were exponentially increased with the understanding of the language.
We may lose her to foreign soil some day.
It is good to know that God is omnipresent.

December 27 -
It's not something I usually consider a joyful task - taking the decorations off the Christmas tree and saying good-bye to the season.
But, this year, it happened rather casually and enough earlier in the season than normal that I could have the pleasant company and help of Miss Helping Hands.
And since she was at university when the tree was being decorated, we got to have our little reminisces about the individual ornaments while we un-decorated it.
I love the way God works things out.

December 28-
Prince Charming, Miss Helping Hands and I went for a browse in the book store.
I treated myself to a new book on one of my favorite subjects: papercutting!
This book has one (whimsical) project in particular which I am totally drawn to.
I bought the book just so I would have the pattern, and I came home thinking I would start right away.
Then I saw that the completed piece was only 5" x 5" and I realized how teensy, tinesy, itty, bitty some of the cuts are going to be.
It will definitely have to wait until after the wedding, when I can sit down and really focus.
Still, I'm pretty excited about it and I'll make sure to show it to you when it's done.
It was too detailed to draw it on the inchie for the day, and I even had trouble with...
...one of the simpler designs.

December 29
When you know you are going to be baking for someone's wedding, suddenly all the recipes you thought were good are not quite good enough.
And since I don't often make white cake, I spent a day in the kitchen doing some recipe testing.
I made a couple of batches of cupcakes and experimented with filling.
There was no one here to eat them.
So the freezer is full of naked cupcakes.

December 30
I spent the morning at work, and that is always extra hard for me to do when I know the shoots are at home.
It was nice to come home and grab Miss HH for lunch at 'our place' (Taco Bueno, lol) and a little shopping.
She found a really sweet little top, which I drew a very poor likeness of the next day when she and the shirt were back at university.
There is more than one good reason for me to keep current on my inchies.

December 31
I had a morning meeting with the little bride I've been helping and we made some design decisions.
I already showed you the little flowers we decided on here.
In the evening, we kept our regular Friday night dinner date with Beeg Seester and Bro.
Afterwards, though, we did something we don't normally do.
We went to the show.
We saw True Grit.
I liked it.
I'm going to try to remember the bit of dialogue aimed at one of the very outspoken main characters: "You don't varnish your opinions".
That's a keeper.
Prince Charming and I were home alone when the clock struck twelve.
We kissed and then prayed in the new year.
I'm still trying to decide which part I liked best.
