Yesterday I put the first coat of paint on the dresser for Me Darlin' Mither's guest room.
I went to the paint store looking for something nice and creamy...white with enough yellow in it to match the cream in the drapes.
I pulled two swatches from the rack and was having difficulty making a decision.
Until I read the names of the colors.
Who could resist "Man in the Moon"?
I didn't even try.
I went out to put the second coat of paint on the little dresser first thing this morning, thinking it would be the coolest hour to do it, and maybe the dresser would have a chance of being dry enough for delivery tonight.
I had to go over the flat surfaces at least three extra times because I kept dripping sweat on the oil based paint!
For the last several days, I've been feeling like I'm going from one hot, sweaty job to another.
This morning I finally realized that taking more than three steps in this kind of weather is a hot, sweaty job.
"Help, I'm melting."
I also appear to be complaining, but really...
I'm just saying, is all.
This is how the little dresser looks right now:
It's not going to be a perfect little piece of furniture when it's done, but it will be a piece of rescued furniture.
And you know I'm all about that.
While the paint dries today, I am spending my time with a hot, steamy iron, making miles and miles of seam binding.
I am hand stitching it on the back side of the coverlet for Me Mither's guest room...
...but I will be machine stitching it on the 24" pillow covers I am hoping to get made today.
There are miles of it, I tell ya.
Miles.
