Remember the robot parts?
They weren't robot parts.
It made me very happy when my little experient with this paint...
...over this paint...
...produced these results.
It does look like the inside of an oven, doesn't it?
That's what I wanted.
A nice oven to go with the stove top...
and the sink.
You see, on Mother's Day, when those 44 relatives were here, we pulled the shoots old play kitchen down from the garage shelf so all the curly-haired little great nieces could play with it.
Then Little Man started practicing for the next Iron Chef competition, so we just kept it in the house.
The little play kitchen was made over twenty years ago by the old man who owned the little junk shop near our (then) neighborhood.
It was never a sleek, trendy kitchen.
The handles were cut from pieces of scrap wood, and the sink was a pink hospital basin.
But the college girlies used to cook up some pretty wonderful meals of plastic hamburgers and green peas on it when they were young.
It was well-loved, and it showed.
The paint was chipped off, the handles for oven, cupboard, and water faucet were gone, and some of the hinges were a bit 'sprung'.
When Able Baker Dana opened her (big ol') gallon of black Impervo paint while she was here last Wednesday working on her furniture, I instantly envisioned just how I wanted to update the little kitchen.
And yet another project was born.
I kept all the original hardware and 'fixtures', bought two new door handles, and a (red!) faucet handle and just went wild with the Impervo and the spray paint.
Now our little kitchen goes nicely in our big kitchen.
And I have some time to make little pot-holders.
And little 'aperns'.
And little hand-embroidered dish towels...
