We participated in the neighborhood garage sale today.
I didn't have any creative play time, so I had to leave the paper doll I'm working on in an unfinished state again.
I call her "Almost Queen Esther".
She doesn't have a mind of her own yet, but some day she'll have a head (with a crown on it), another arm, a scroll, and some shoes.
I didn't get to make her smile today, but I did get to make other people smile.
And I got to laugh a lot, too.
One of the customers at our garage sale today was a young man who decided to purchase several DVDs.
When he came to the table to pay, one of our college shoots asked him if he needed a nice paper pineapple to go with them.
He didn't seem to think he did, but they jested about it while they made their transaction.
I overheard a little of the word play, so when I came back to the table I told him I was sure he really needed a paper pineapple.
I told him I didn't think people understood what a prize was going to the person who purchased the paper pineapple.
He said, "You know, I think I really could use a paper pineapple. How much is it?"
"Twenty-five cents."
"I think it would be just the perfect thing for one of my friends...I'll take it."
Much laughter.
I asked if I could take his photograph.
"Sure!"
I said, "I have a blog. Is it okay for me to post this photograph?"
"Sure!"
"Smile!"
You know, life is just plain FUN sometimes.
