I finally made it up to the studio to play for a couple of hours this afternoon.
I got all caught up on my Inchies, and now I have a lot of things to post that aren't really connected to each other.
We'll just call this Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
Ready?
I'll just start off by showing you the Inchie for May 12.
And I'll add that you'll see on another Inchie that I didn't get them planted until May 18.
At this moment, though, I am thinking that it was still too soon.
We are being told to expect another round of "severe thunderstorms which may include significant hail and tornadoes".
Within the hour.
Yikes.
-------
On May 13 I took a little browse through Border's Books and stumbled upon this book, which I wanted (very much) to buy, but resisted doing.
I asked Prince Charming to see if he could get it from the library for me, but he tells me it's just recently been published and they don't have it yet.
Can I wait?
------
On May 14, I spent the entire day in my jammies, being only mildly productive during a short stint in the paper doll workshop.
My only tangible accomplishment was giving Queen Esther a head.
Oh, and some gold chains and bracelets.
-------
I already posted about the fun we had at the garage sale on May 15.
I still smile when I think about the young man we talked into buying the paper pineapple.
I wonder if it had anything to do with the beautiful young college girl who was taking the money.
Whatever the reason, he sure was a sport about it.
-------
It was a long day of sitting that Saturday, so Sunday afternoon I took a walk on the mean streets.
I really do struggle with these walks.
Gwen likes the mean streets; the noisy traffic, the thrill of crossing a divided four-lane expressway without the benefit of a crosswalk, and all the amazing treasures people leave on the road.
Naomi prefers to stick to the neighborhoods; where she can hear the birds singing, appreciate the lovely plantings in other folks' yards, and walk without worrying if she'll make it home again in one piece.
The May 16th walk generated a new 'found object' art idea, so for now I'm content to let Gwen have her hair-raising way.
If we live long enough, I hope to show you the finished art piece that is represented on this Inchie.
I mention the Dollar Tree here because it was in the shopping center where the "to" part of my walk ended, and I followed an impulse to go inside to see if there was anything to inspire me for a dollar.
There was...but that's another post altogether.
-------
On May 17, the baby's breath in my wildflower garden started blooming.
I didn't recognize it in it's flowering state; I'm not sure I've ever seen it that way.
That brings us to yesterday, and the very messy job of stripping several layers of paint and varnish off a large dresser, followed by the slightly less messy job of planting flowers.
I have no experience taking a piece of painted furniture back to a 'stainable' state.
I've stripped many pieces for repainting, but I think I'd like to stain this one.
I think.
I'll probably have lots of time to think about it.
I'm already tired of working on it.
