I've been outside, doing all sorts of outside things today.
We have to make the most of every non-thunderstorm moment around here.
The last storm brought some golf ball size hail our way, but I am grateful to say we sustained no significant damage.
Even our plants made it through in one piece.
I thought you might like to see some of the latest blooms in my wildflower garden.
I think this is cosmos.
Lovely and ethereal.
The orange poppies bloomed.
And the red poppies followed suit.
Then the baby's breath blossomed.
And the bees were happy about that.
There are a lot of other things getting ready to bloom, too.
I wish I knew what they were.
Are they roses?
Like this?
Nah.
This is a blossom from today's project.
Can you tell what it is?
A new piece of art?
Let's zoom out, shall we?
What?
You don't think like it?
I spent 7 hours on this project today.
Here is what it looked like after the first few hours.
I actually liked it at this stage.
I told my friend, Able Baker Dana (who was working on her own project on the other side of the garage), that I would actually keep it this way if I was planning to use it in the cabana out by the swimming pool.
Alas.
I don't have a cabana.
Or a swimming pool.
So I applied a third coat of stripper and got the project to this stage, before I quit to go plant the flower beds.
Now I'm going to show you where it started, if you promise not to tell me how much you love it the way it was.
I bought this at a neighbor's estate sale, because I loved the curved drawers.
But I just can't make this color work in the room where I intend to use this piece.
My apologies to my Chicken-Raising Seester and the Creative Genius.
They both loved it this way.
I pause here to bow my head and observe a moment of silence.
And now I press on.
I am very excited about the help I have been offered for the sanding portion of this project.
An award winning sander has promised to join us in the garage tomorrow.
A bonafide professional.
I kid you not.
